Privacy Policy
Your weather. Your locations. Clear boundaries.
StormFrame is a U.S. weather application developed and published by Brandan Keen. It does not require a StormFrame account, display advertising, or sell personal information.
What StormFrame handles
Location
If you grant foreground location permission, StormFrame uses your location while the app is open to center the map, select nearby radar and observation sites, and request local forecasts and official alert text. You may use search, saved locations, or a map press instead. StormFrame does not request background location.
A current location fix is kept in memory for the active experience. Locations you choose to save, their labels, and related place or forecast-grid information are stored locally on your device. StormFrame does not operate a server that stores your locations.
Weather requests and map services
StormFrame requests forecasts, observations, alerts, radar, and legends from public NOAA, National Weather Service, NCEP, and NEXRAD Level III distribution services. Mapbox supplies the basemap and may receive the viewed map area and ordinary request information. Any internet request necessarily exposes information such as IP address, request time, and the requested resource to the service receiving it.
Mapbox telemetry is disabled by StormFrame by default. If you enable it in Settings, Mapbox may receive de-identified location and usage information under its own policy. You can turn it off again at any time. StormFrame does not use that telemetry for advertising.
Saved preferences and caches
Unit, theme, map, radar, and other display preferences are stored on your device. The app also keeps bounded, re-fetchable weather and radar caches so it can remain useful during a temporary outage. Settings includes a cache-clear action that does not delete saved locations, preferences, or your StormFrame Pro purchase.
StormFrame Pro purchases
Apple or Google processes payment, and RevenueCat helps StormFrame determine whether the StormFrame Pro entitlement is active, restored, refunded, or revoked. These providers may process an anonymous app user identifier, product and transaction identifiers, purchase status, store account context, and device or app information needed for purchase service and fraud prevention. StormFrame never receives your full payment-card number.
Diagnostics and support
Version 1.0 does not include a third-party advertising, marketing analytics, or crash reporting SDK. A diagnostics export is created only when you request it and is shared only through a destination you choose. If you email support, your email provider and ours process the message and address. Support correspondence is retained only while reasonably necessary to answer the request and maintain an appropriate support record, unless law or security needs require longer retention. You may request deletion by emailing the address below.
Service providers and public data sources
StormFrame uses the following providers only to operate the app:
- NOAA, the National Weather Service, NCEP, and public NEXRAD distribution services for weather data;
- Mapbox for maps, labels, and optional telemetry;
- Apple and Google for app distribution and in-app payment processing;
- RevenueCat for purchase and entitlement management;
- Expo/EAS for producing and distributing application builds; and
- Cloudflare for this static privacy and support website.
These providers handle data under their own terms and privacy policies. StormFrame does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
What Version 1.0 does not do
- No StormFrame account, profile, password, or account database;
- No push-notification token or notification permission;
- No background location;
- No contacts, photos, microphone, camera, health, motion, or Bluetooth permission;
- No advertising identifier, targeted advertising, or cross-app tracking; and
- No StormFrame backend storing saved locations or weather activity.
Your controls and deletion choices
- Decline or revoke location permission and use search or map selection instead.
- Delete a saved location from the app.
- Clear downloaded forecast, observation, and radar caches in Settings.
- Keep Mapbox telemetry off, or disable it after previously enabling it.
- Uninstall StormFrame to remove its local application data.
- Email us to request deletion of support correspondence you sent directly to us.
Deleting local StormFrame data does not cancel or refund a purchase. Store and RevenueCat purchase records are controlled by those providers and are needed to restore purchases or honor refunds and revocations.
Security
StormFrame uses encrypted HTTPS connections, platform-secure storage for the bounded local entitlement record, least-privilege public credentials, bounded caches, and automated secret, dependency, and release-binary checks. No security measure can guarantee absolute protection.
Children
StormFrame is a general-audience weather application and is not directed specifically to children under 13. It does not offer user accounts or social features.
Changes to this policy
This page will be updated when StormFrame changes its data practices. Material changes will carry a new effective date and, when appropriate, an in-app or store disclosure.
